Microsoft takes aim at Chrome OS with a new, and very necessary, education push

One of the more visible changes in Windows 10 S is the new wallpaper.
Microsoft's New York City event to launch Windows 10 S and the Surface Laptop appears to have confused many people. The larger theme of the event was "education," but this is a broad topic. Judging by many of the reactions, Microsoft didn't do a good job of distinguishing the Surface Laptop from its offerings and ambitions for K-12 education. When introduced, the Laptop was still given an education spin, but in a very different context: college students, rather than middle and high schoolers.

By and large, people look for two types of laptops these days. Either one 'that will do' or one that they really want.
The Elitebook X360 is pitched - and priced - firmly in the latter camp. After a week testing it, I've come to the conclusion that it's a very well made, high-end device with excellent performance levels, but might be overkill for those who don't need to bother with touchscreens or screen styluses.

Lenovo Yoga Book review: Is this the future of laptops?

When the 2-in-1 Yoga Book was first announced, you'd have been forgiven for thinking that Lenovo had taken leave of its senses. As the manufacturer who first perfected the convertible laptop concept, though, Lenovo is no stranger to pushing the boundaries of laptop design – and it's got a pretty good track history of not getting it disastrously wrong in the process. This time around, it's raised the stakes higher than ever – the Yoga Book is by far the riskiest experiment yet.

I liked Samsung’s TabPro S quite a lot when I reviewed it last year – it was one of the better executed Surface clones I’d tried. Now the company has revealed its spiritual successors, the much more reasonably-named Galaxy Books.
